Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, I guarantee true likeness of your pet to the chosen source photograph. I do this by paying close attention to features, especially the eyes and expression. I also request 5-10 photographs to gain a rounded idea of your pet's features, colouring and character.
I don't paint in every detail and strand of fur because it stops it being artistic and turns the painting into a photographic copy.
1 pet in the small size.
2 additional pets in the medium size (so 3 pets in total). There is a £60 surcharge for each addition.
3 additional pets in the large size (so 4 pets in total). There is a surcharge of £70 for each addition.
A larger size will allow for even more pets in the same painting. I'm happy to do bespoke sizes upon request.
If photos have been taken from exactly the same height and angle (which is unlikely), I can layer the pets so they appear to be natually sitting or standing together.
If taken from different angles, the only way to create the painting is through 'floating' copies of each pet separated out on a plain background. This is something I prefer not to do as it prevents the painting from being a creative and stylish artwork.
I offer a 25% discount for each additional painting purchased within the same order, so this is something you might consider. 2-3 portraits lined up on the wall and similarly styled look fantastic!
Yes, I do custom sizes so please just ask. It may delay delivery by another week as I have to order in bespoke sizes.
I keep painting panels in stock in the sizes I offer so I can meet my delivery deadlines.
True-to-life backgrounds can turn a stylish artwork into 'chocolate box' painting, which is why I prefer to work 'loose and abstract'. Adding text and toys can have a similar effect. However, I like to meet customers' wishes so am happy to oblige or to discuss options with you, such as impressionistic reality.
Please be aware that a detailed true to life background, or complex addition, will take longer to paint and may incur a surcharge.
Yes, I email a photo of the finished piece and only arrange delivery once you're completely happy with it.
I make any number of revisions as long as they're in line with the agreed design set out in the deposit invoice. I make no charge for revisions.
I realise that customers may only have one photograph, especially if the portrait is a gift. I'll do my best for you and let you know if problematic in our phone call.
I can paint from a somewhat blurred photograph, but please be aware that the portrait will be less detailed.
Liquitex or Golden Heavy Body Acrylic: Research is revealing acrylic to last longer than oil, and oil paintings have been around for 500 years! Unlike oil paint, acrylic is resistant to yellowing and cracking over time and much more resistant to fading.Â

Quality Panel or Stretched Canvas: I much prefer the feel and stability of panel  but happily paint on stretched canvas if this is your preference.

Windsor + Newton UV Satin Varnish: satin varnish has a slight sheen which adds depth to colours without a high shine. Â I apply two coats to protect the painting. If your preference is for a flat matt or gloss varnish, just let me know.

For longevity, paintings should not be placed in an area of high humidity such as a bathroom or close to sink/ hob / kettle in a kitchen. It is advisable not to place a painting in a permanent position of direct sunlight.
